Born and raised in Knox County, Lara Dawson is a licensed architect who presently holds the position of Director of Architecture at Taber Owens Construction. She has successfully managed numerous local projects in the capacity of either project manager or architect of record. These projects include VU French Quarters, Gregg Park Shelter House renovation, the addition to Knox County Jail and the new Community Corrections facility, the newly constructed Wheatland Town Hall, and the renovation of the Daviess County Courthouse. Lara has been married to Brett Dawson, the proprietor of DawsForce Technology located in Vincennes, for nine years. They are the proud parents of a seven-year-old son, Rowan. The family is frequently found attending one of Rowan’s soccer or baseball games or practices. Lara is no stranger to the stage, being named Miss Knox County Fair Queen in 2006, and having competed for the title of Miss Indiana as Miss Vincennes University in 2009 and Miss Ohio Valley in 2011. Her background in dance encompasses preschool and elementary tap and ballet classes, serving as the Dance Captain of her high school's Show Choir, and receiving training in belly dance during her college years. Lara is enthusiastic about the opportunity to compete, as she has attended the event annually and thoroughly enjoyed watching the performances. Should she be able to contribute to fundraising efforts for a worthy cause while enjoying the experience, it becomes challenging to refuse such an opportunity.
